Who said that English language is easy?

Another one that is often confusing is: “Do you mind?” 
If a teenager asks his mother, “do you mind if I borrow the car for the weekend?” and the mother replies, “Yes,” it can be misunderstood as “Yes, you can go” rather than “Yes, I do mind; you cannot go.” If she says “No,” it is often interpreted as “No, I do not mind” rather than “No, you cannot go.”  The teenager, then, hears what he wants to hear.Can you think of any other examples?
